Needs some fixing
Eisig flops awkwardly down a slope, missing his balance mark just slightly and spreading his wings to correct it. He catches himself, cursing his carelessness. He could feel a bit of metal near the bottom of this ravine, and he was running low. He neeeeded it. He couldn't tell what kind it was, yet, just that it was there. He hoped it was a softer metal, as he currently had plenty of iron and things.
He was thinking too much about that to notice the lioness until he nearly ran into her.
Mari hadn\t been paying to much attention herself, just simply walking, lost in her thoughts. The lion suddenly next to her tartled her, and she jumped slightly with a small sound of fright, before lowering her body slightly, tail tucking off to one side. Her ears pressed back in uneasiness, and she watched the male beside her with caution. The bubbles from ehr eyes floated here and there before popping and disappearing, thankfully with no audible sound. "H-hello..." she stammered out, black eyes regarding the winged lion, hoping for the best, but preparing for the worst.
Eis, also caught off guard, righted himself and sort of puffed up awkwardly. He held his breath for a moment, but released it when she offered a greeting. "Um, hi, I'm Eisig" He allowed himself to run his eyes aong her prettty, soft face and watch her little bubbles rise. He loved their smallness and then he saw her eyes, and his heart stopped. "C-canImakeyourface??" he blurted, a small bounce coming to his wings and an excited smile to his lips. "you'resopretty..."
Mari flinched at his excited bouncing, but quickly righted herself to stand up a bit. "My name is Mariska." she stated softly, tail still tucked, tail tip twitching anxiously. It was an odd request to be sure, but he just seemed so... happy, at the prospect of... Making her face? what did he mean? A little perplexed, but a lot curious, Mari tilted her head slightly and asked, "what do you mean by 'make my face?" she took a moment of pause before she continued, "Although whatever it is, I do appreciate the compliment, good sir." Her eyes flicked to the ground, and her face grew a little hot. No one had ever been so eager to tell her she was pretty.
"Oh!" He said, sort of chuckling, " Sorry, I forgot to explain again..." he reached out for the metal nearby and brought it up to the surface. "I'm an artist, you see," he said, twisting the metal and combining it so that it formed a small lion, the excess floating around it as it opened its mouth into a yawn. Eis stuck out his tongue in concentration as he tried to make it look like someone, but couldn't. So the eyeless, yawning lion fell out of shape until it became a ring, which he hovered between them. "I um, usually work off of reference."
He gently dropped the ring to his paw. "I love to listen to the stories of lions and record them in my Hall. I want to place your effigy there as well... if you don't mind?" He looked down sheepishly as well.
Mari listened and watched, and as he looked down she couldn't help but let a small smile grace her face. "No..." she started, "I don't mind at all." she finished after a brief pause. She flicked her ears a little bit before continuing, saying, "I'd be flattered, actually. Now here, lemme see something really quick..." The blue lioness trailed off slightly, before glancing down at the ground and searching almost frantically, before she found what she was after. She took a few steps towards the puzzle and close her eyes for a moment before opening them again and bringing the puddle to float in the air in a ball. She brought it back to Eisig and smiled, turning her black eyes to the ball as she played with it, controlling it. First, she let the ball crash side to side, creating waves in the air, before she formed it back into a ball and procceeded to make Eisig's face in the water. While it wasn't perfect, you could still tell who it was. "Like this? Except, with metal, of course, " she let out a soft giggle, before letting the water sculpture fall into a ball again and she splashed it towards him, giggling as a few drops landed on his face.
His eyes lit up as she made his face. "Yes, yes!" A smile formed and he tucked the ring into the strings on his eyepatch. "I'll need to get my materials, though. They're at the hall - " He had been looking at her and memorizing her features, but realized he was just staring at her. He tucked his wings in and cleared his throat. "It's, um, this way, sorry..." He pointed with his tail, hoping she'd be okay with following him.
Mariska was intrigued. Out of all the lions she had met, none seemed so... Pure. She tended to be a horrible judge of character, however Eisig just seemed so transparent, in a good way. She could sense that he was an innocent type of fellow, and she appreciated that. Earth be good, he even asked her permission if he could make her face in his own personal home! If that wasn't manners, what was? It was refreshing. Most of the lions she dealt with through her work were grumpy or not themselves from pain or sickness, and her experiences with personal relationships was... terribly rocky. Her smile stayed on her face, at least a little bit, as she nodded. "Lead the way, good sir." She had taken this leave from her work to take some time away from the pride so she could do as she pleased, and this was what she wanted to do.
Eisig bounced off towards his home, which, luckily wasn't too far. He helped her find footpaths where he flew, and when his home was in sight he called out to her. "Here we are!" He said, looking back to be sure she was still there. Some of the lions in this hall were created poorly, from memory, as they had left. But Mari had stayed, and he felt a bit of a lift in his heart at seeing her there. He waited for her to reach the entrance before he cleared his throat and introduced, "Welcome to The Hall."
The first chamber of the extensive cave was adorned floor to ceiling with various shades of metal, glistening figures and roses wound around the room in a massive mural. The floor below had been indented by an earth elemental to appear like a rose - the center of which had a raised platform. Atop the platform had been set a highly detailed and very well tinted visage of a lioness, metal wings wrapping around the post like an anchor. She appeared to be looking off to one side with a look of utter disdain, and when following her gaze, one would find it pointed towards a very specific part of the mural. It depicted Eisig and the lioness sitting back to back, but the lioness was facing another - and cubs sat between them. The mural Eisig's face appeared to cry as it looked back at the lioness.
Eisig moved forwards and through the chamber, to a doorway on the other side. The door barely fit between all of the metal, and a few of the vines, glinting in the light, snuck down the hall.
Eisig seemed to pay no mind to the first chamber, although there was a visible sadness upon his features that lifted after they had passed through.
In this next room, light filtered in through a crack in the cave ceiling, illuminating a circular piece, which Eisig turned with his element. It shone the light down a series of coridors. Eisig seemed to be deciding which one to enter, when he looked to Mari to ask, "Do you have a preference for which hallway?"
Mari followed him dutifully, watching her step and appreciating his help along the way, since she didn't have wings to make the journey as quickly as he probably did. She marveled at all the sculptures they passed, walking a bit slowly so she could take in every detail. Her mouth was slightly agape by the time he asked about the corridors, and she shook her head a little, bringing herself back to her senses so she could answer him. "uh." she started slowly, looking either way, "Honestly, no I don't. Whichever one you think is best, I suppose."
Eisig thinks a moment longer and allows the light to shine down a hallway off to the left. He motions for her to followwith a soft smile, and as they walk, he gathers metal from the walls. They move through a chamber with the effigy of a one-winged scout, and then through a chamber that seemed to have a story but no effigy. Finally, they come to a room that is undecorated, except for the metal glittering in long strands as he pulls it along with them. The ceiling in this cave is a bit taller, and has little blue crystals that light the room when the metal from the other shines through it. He smiles back at her as he forms the metal into rods against the back wall, then sits near the pedestal that looked like the one in every room. He extends a wing to gesture as he asks, "Would you mind standing here, please?"
He still held some of the metal in the air, its glittering form starting to swirl near the pedastal in a nervous, but soft way.
"Yes sir," she murmured gently, before ducking her head slightly and stepping over to where he gestured. she spun around gracefully before sitting down on her bottom. She looked at him, gave a smile, and asked, "like this?" Internally, she knew she was doing it right, but she was being playful with him. She was also still slightly in awe from the corridor they had walked down, and her black eyes could help but look up and gaze longingly at the crystals that glittered amongst the walls.
Eisig, delighted at her willingness, gave her a friendly nod and sat nearby, appearing to shift so he could see her better. "A perfect smile," he admired, lifting a rod to move it closer.
He was a bit clueless as to her playfullness, but he was more focused on starting the piece correctly. He was a bit cluless on hos own flirty responses, as well, but he may have been... a little bit in awe.
He began to form a shape with the first rod, sticking his tongue out as he proportioned the eye sockets and the cheekbones, his own orange eyes scanning Mari lovingly. He worked silently until he had most of the basic proportions down, then when he went to get another rod, he asked "Tell me about yourself, Mari" in a rather interested, but not too distracted way. He was still pretty focused on his piece as he began to add fur texture around the neck.
Mari tried to sit as perfectly still as she could for the artist at work, considering the fact that moving a lot might throw off his process. still though, the small smile she had gathered fell away as he asked her to tell him about herself, "Ah well..." she started, unsure of what all to say. She wasn't really that interesting of a lion, at least in her mind. "My father was Unknown born, and Im pretty sure my mother was born in the pride. When they had me, they also had my three other siblings. My two brothers, Reno and Zodiac, and my sister Taika. Oddly enough, I was the only one to inherit my mother's water element. My siblings all bear darkness and psychic, in varying ways of course." she paused once more, "My mother fell ill after we were born. It was something that sort of wrecked my cubhood, especially when my father and reno left to try and find an answer. She never did get quite cured, but at least my father and brother came back. Thank the stars you havent met Zodiac, though. He's a lazy excuse for a lion who does his best to ruin my relationships." Her face contorted a little with sourness at mentioning her brother's antics. With a soft sigh, she continued, "Im not really sure though, what happened to my sister Taika, or my brother Reno, or even my mother. Every once in awhile my father pops into my life to see how things are, but I mean... We're all kind of scattered at this point." she flicked her ears and looked at him with a small head tilt. "What about yourself?"
Eisig listens intently as she talks, sowing bits of fur into the statue and carving her smile into one of ever-so-slight pain. He had just gotten to her cheeks when she asked, and wasn't... quite sure what to say either. He knew she'd seen the effigy in the first roon, but didn't know if she knew that lioness or what she would say if he told her everything as opposed to who he was now.
He sighed sofly before deciding on the latter, hoping that if she was curious about his further past, she would ask.
"I'm a theif, and a pirate. I take small bits of metal off of lions and bring it here, working on this project continuously. I try to gather stories from around Lochren and place them here. Sometimes I can get the lion to come, sometimes I can't." He sighed, and looked her in the eye, judging whether he should tell her about his stunt in the rebellion or not. "I'm... a traitor to the pride, I left with no real reason. I came here, to thus cave, to sulk. Instead I found a new purpose."
He stops there as he places the final touches on her face, and checks it over. Satisfied, he uses the last of the metal he had on hand to place a symbol underneath the bust he had just done. The symbol was of the pride.
He took another rod and moved to the wall, motioning for her to follow. He started to lay a landscape thinly over the wall, looking very similar to the pride's lands, but as if he hadn't been in a long time.
He started to fill it with lions, and as he worked, he kept glancing at Mari
Mari followed his motion towards the wall, looking back and making a small face at the pride symbol he had made under the bust. It was a small touch of distaste on her usually warm face. However, she said nothing about it as she turned back to look at what he was making on the wall. She flicked her ears a bit, thinking on what eh had said. A traitor to the pride? "I uh... Im not very well versed in what all has been happening during this war... I dont remember hearing anything about what you did. Then again, I do hear lots of things, but I tend not to listen most of the time. If its not to much trouble, what did you do?" She turned her black eyes onto him, curious, "Of course, if I'm overstepping my bounds, I apologize."
Eisig shakes his head. "No, you aren't. I have no reason to keep it from you. " he finishes the detail he was working on and stops for a moment, turning his orange eyes to meet hers.
"I was a scout and forger for the pride. The head scout - though I don't remember her name anymore - sent me out on a mission to be a spy. And I accepted it. While I was there, I... "he glances down the hall, " well, met someone. She was really something, but... it was never meant to be.
When I told her about my pride status, she threw a fit. I went to see her the next shift, but she was gone. We haven't spoken since. I saw her once, though, with a litter of cubs. I hope she is well, but... I never could bring myself to go back to the pride. So I came back here, and have been here since."
As he finishes speaking. He looks back at Mari, a sadness in his eyes, but also a softness.
He was thinking too much about that to notice the lioness until he nearly ran into her.
